Habit 1: Be Proactive

The 7 Habits of Happy Children

Developing leadership skills for life is a vital part of Holy Family student learning.  This falls under the umbrella of student wellbeing and is embedded in our pastoral care practices and procedures.

The 7 Habits are the foundation of this culture of leadership empowerment. Habit 1: Be Proactive teaches us to be responsible for our actions, moods, attitudes and behaviour. It is about taking responsibility for your life. You can’t keep blaming everything on your parents or grandparents. Proactive people recognise that they are “response-able.”

Everyday you make choices, what your mood will be, how you treat others, the words you use and more. Making responsible choices is part of Habit 1: Be Proactive – being a leader.

“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.” – Dr. Stephen R. Covey
